Batman: Superman Family

Bruce Wayne's final Batman outfit During his time with the League, Batman showed his distrust of Superman. After Superman was brainwashed by Darkseid and when Batman had to pull Superman back later when he attempted to end Darkseid's life, Batman began carrying a piece of Kryptonite, which was revealed when the android Amazo copied Superman's powers. However, Batman still held a deep respect for the Man of Steel, especially after he had seemingly died at the hands of Toyman. But, regardless of his respect, Batman remained stubborn in his disbelief in Superman's death, and refused to mourn for him for quite a while.
Though he is often acts as a loner, Batman has come to accept the necessity to ally with other heroes. As a member of the Justice League of America, Batman's detective skills serve well as the team's tactician. Many members, including Superman and Wonder Woman often defer to him for leadership. When they reunited to form a "heavy hitting" JLA, it was the Batman who first sussed out the identity of their first major foe: the White Martians.

Starting in the mid-1950s, Batman's stories gradually become more science fiction-oriented, an attempt at mimicking the success of the top-selling Superman comics of the time. New characters such as Batwoman, Ace the Bat-Hound, and Bat-Mite (the latter two paralleling Krypto the Superdog and Mr. Mxyzptlk of the Superman titles) appear. Batman has adventures involving either odd transformations or dealing with bizarre space aliens. Batman is a highly public figure during the stories of the 1950s, regularly appearing at such events as charity functions and frequently appearing in broad daylight. In 1960, Batman becomes a member of the Justice League of America, which debuts in The Brave and the Bold #28.
Batman was one of the few superhero characters to be continuously published as interest in the genre waned during the 1950s. In the story "The Mightiest Team In the World" in Superman #76 (June 1952), Batman teams up with Superman for the first time and the pair discovers each other's secret identity.[16] Following the success of this story, World's Finest Comics was revamped so it featured stories starring both heroes together, instead of the separate Batman and Superman features that had been running before.[17] The team-up of the characters was "a financial success in an era when those were few and far between;"[18] this series of stories ran until the book's cancellation in 1986.

Batman: Under the Hood - Batman asks Green Arrow about coming back from dead In the wake of Jason Todd's return, Batman has begun to wonder if, as much as it doesn't make sense to him, people, including Superman, really were dead and then returned from death. That it has nothing to do with science . . . or logic . . . You were dead, and you came back to life."

1105 Start your free trial Before Superman, Batman, or the Terminator, people told tales of other heroes, of Hercules and Brer Rabbit, for example. These heroes of legend and fiction possessed exceptional characteristics—strength, determination, or cleverness—and used them to overcome obstacles, to save themselves from disaster, or to outwit villains.
