Batman opened on June 23, 1989 in the United States in 2,194 theaters, accumulating $40,489,746 over its opening weekend. The Batman game follows the movie perfectly in the fact that there is a level for just about every scene in the film. You actually get to drop Naiper into the vat of acid, pilot the Batmobile and Batwing, save Vicki Vale in the Flugelheim Museum, and much more. There is even a few animated sequences and introductions.

"Pirates"' Captain Jack captured the top spot for favorite male movie-related costume, but Spider-Man, Dracula, Batman and Harry Potter were not far behind. Interestingly, "Star Wars" protagonist Luke Skywalker did not crack the Top Ten, whereas nemesis Darth Vader did make the cut.

Patrick Bateman got the role of Batman in the most recent movie, (entitled Batman starts it up) due to his name. The movie is wildly regarded by critics as having completely incomprehensible and unwatchable fight scenes. This has earned the movie several awards (which were later taken away when they realized it wasn't a Japanese martial arts movie.)
