built 637 days ago
John Batman - statue John Batman had the potential to become one of the more revered names in Australian history. He is the only native-born Australian to found a state capital city. He spoke Aboriginal languages and was one of the few people of his time to attempt to compensate Aborigines for the use of their land. In fact, had things turned out differently, Melbourne might now be known by one the names proposed early in its settlement - Batmania!

Costume from The New Batman Adventures. Batman tracked Superman to a military base in the mountains outside Metropolis where they found more humans in stasis pods and the imprisoned J'onn J'onzz. After freeing J'onzz and learning of the Imperium, the trio were stopped by Imperium forces posing as military personnel. Outnumbered, Batman fled with the incapacitated J'onn J'onzz in the Batwing while Superman covered their escape. The Batwing was pursued by Imperium craft and shot down, but rescued by John Stewart and Hawkgirl before the crippled Batwing could crash. Batman witnessed the other heroes battling the Imperium craft and the appearance of Wonder Woman. The Flash arrived at the end of the battle, having retrieved the Batwing's severed wing.
Batman's father was transported to Australia as a receiver of stolen goods, and John Batman was born in Sydney. It was there that he gained some skills as a bushman and a certain rapport with local Aborigines.

The origin of Batman. Johnny Halliday once sold Batman the Eiffel Tower in a cunning scam, cunningly executed at a very cunning hour on the 25th December, 1827. The scam involved deception on the nature of the tower itself: Mr Halliday sold it under the false appellation of the "biggest dildo in town". The time was a very emotionally trying and challenging one, given that Batman was desperately seeking a birthday present for Robin.
Jill St. John, who played Molly in Episode 2, performed the infamous "Batusi" with Batman in a go-go club. For months afterward, the Batusi was a favorite on dance floors across the nation.
