Barry Manilow Tickets Barry Manilow was born Barry Alan Pincus on June 17, 1946, in Brooklyn, and grew up in its low-income Williamsburg section. His father left the family when Barry was two, and he eventually adopted his mother's maiden name of Manilow. He began playing piano and accordion at age seven, and following high school, he was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School of Music, which he paid for by working in the CBS mail room. From there, he became musical director of the CBS show Callback, and supported himself for the next few years by writing, producing, and performing advertising jingles (including high-profile campaigns for State Farm, Dr. Pepper, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and more).
After High School, Barry Manilow attended Juilliard and worked in the mailroom at CBS in order to pay for his education. While in college Barry composed a completely original Musical Score which eventually ran Off-Broadway for eight years. Following his success in the musical genre, Manilow turned to advertising, eventually earning two advertising industry Clio Awards as well as performing in the historic McDonald's commercial when the "You Deserve A Break Today" slogan was coined. Since Barry hit the stage professionally he has performed with many other world famous stars including Bette Midler, Ray Charles and John Denver. Due to Barry's never ending fame and seemingly insurmountable pool of talent, Rolling Stone Magazine named him "The Showman of Our Generation," a fitting name for the man that has wooed the hearts of fans across the globe.
Barry Manilow's unparalleled career is made up of virtually every facet of music, including performing, composing, arranging and producing. He has triumphed in every medium of entertainment. He has received Grammy, Emmy and Tony Awards and has been nominated for an Academy Award. In January 2002, Manilow launches Live 2002! after ringing in the New Year at Los Angeles' most prestigious new concert venue, the Kodak Theatre. The tour ... follows the release of Here At The Mayflower on November 13, 2001.
NEW YORK - Two very different milestones in Barry Manilow's performing career have been joined for the DVD "First & Farewell," due in stores October 31. The first disc of the Rhino/Stiletto New Media set features a 1974 rehearsal for Manilow's maiden U.S. tour, while the second sports highlights from his 2004 "farewell" concert at The Pond in Anaheim, Calif.

Some fans were unhappy that Manilow, through a Platinum Package, began charging his fans $1,000 each to meet him after concert shows for a meet-and-greet, champagne, photo session and front row seats. The money goes to Manilow's foundation and each participant is only allowed to do this one time. They do keep track.
