[T]he success of Bar Girls is due as much to Hoang’s talent as it is to the new thinking at the Ministry of Culture and Information. In Vietnam, a few state companies are allocated funds to produce films to be shown in state-owned cinemas. Film scripts must be vetted and approved by the ministry’s Department of Cinematography before the cameras begin rolling.

Bar Girls DVD A 2-in-1 edition of the fresh and funny romantic comedy Bar Girls, featuring a group of women whose lives and loves mix and match in a Los Angeles bar. Based on Lauran Hoffman's stage play, the film focuses on the central characters Loretta, (Nancy Allison Wolfe) a smart yet insecure cartoon writer, and Rachel (Liza D'Agostino), a charming, commitment-shy actress. Together, they face their fear of past loves and pain and start anew.

On a 10pm visit the bar was down to about 10 girls with 6 of them dancing. Always a danger sign for a bar if their are no spare ladies around to socialise. This is particularly a problem if the girls don't show any flesh.
