Bands or arrangers seeking to arrange music for a marching band must seek "Permission to Arrange" from the company or individual that holds the "print rights" to the music. The "print rights" holder may or may not be the same as the "copyright owner." The copyright owner sometimes publishes its own music or it may grant "print rights" to a music publisher (such as Hal Leonard or Alfred Publishing Co.) to arrange their music for band. Copyright owners often empower the music publisher with the right to grant or deny requests for permission to arrange (such as you are seeking). The second season of The Naked Brothers Band recently wrapped production in Brooklyn, New York, and is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in January 2008. The series ... launched internationally in spring 2007 on Nickelodeon UK and has continued to roll out across Nick's 31 channels world-wide, to conclude with Nick Holland in February 2008. The Naked Brothers Band has been nominated for two 2007 Nickelodeon Australia Kids' Choice Awards, a 2007 Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Award, and the movie received a nomination for a 2007 Teen Choice Award. In the Spring Semester, those not chosen for the Wind Ensemble will form the Symphonic Band to perform concert band literature. All members of the band program will form three different basketball pep bands called Apache Spirit Basketball band to perform at home games at least once a week.

Dave Matthews Band announced today that it has issued a $1.5 million challenge grant to help build the New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village. The Village is a Habitat for Humanity project that seeks to build more than 300 homes in the city's Upper Ninth Ward with musicians and other New Orleanians who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
