Ballet Pensacola has a customer base of nearly 300 students for the school year. Unlike single-teacher schools, ARB’s Princeton Ballet School has an outstanding team of dance educators. Many members of this team are current or former professional dancers. Many have attained graduate degrees in dance education and have won major teaching awards.

A large number of Ballets Russes dancers chose to stay in America, becoming teachers, choreographers, and ballet masters for theaters, civic ballets, and opera houses across the country. Many worked in prologs (short vaudevilles that alternated with feature films in motion picture palaces of the 1920s–1940s). Among them were Theodore Kosloff, who became a popular choreographer for silent films, and Mikhail Mordkin, whose school and company were the incubators for Ballet Theatre.

Ballet emerged in late 15 century Renaissance court of Italy, further developing in the French court from the time of Louis XIV in the 17th century. This is reflected in the French vocabulary of ballet. Subsequently, after 1850, ballet flourished in Denmark and Russia. It was from Russia that it returned to Western Europe and subsequently the globe, the Ballets Russes of Sergei Diaghilev and its successors were particularly influential. It has continued to draw on and be enriched by folk dance and local dance traditions.
