built 628 days ago
To be an official finisher of the Baja 1000 is a major accomplishment. Yukiya Watanabe of Japan was the driver of record for a specially equipped vehicle for a team of paraplegic drivers. The car was rigged to work exclusively with hand controls. Joining Watanabe were Masaki Urano and Toshiro Kato from Japan, and Jon Snyder from Thousand Oaks, Calif. The team finished fourth in Class 3 with a time of 37:17:01.

On November 21st, KTM North America entered a talent laden Red Bull USA Dakar Team into the 36th running of the annual SCORE Tecate Baja 1000. The team consisted of 10-time Baja 1000 winner Larry Roeseler, 3-time Baja 1000 winners Paul Krause and Scot Harden and the squad’s newest member, Casey McCoy. The riders posted an outstanding run and completed the grueling south-of-the-border marathon in 20-hours, 20-minutes and 21-seconds with an average speed of 39.41-mph and a top speed clocked at 127-mph! The Red Bull KTM team was the eleventh motorcycle overall and the third ranked team in the 30 Pro Class. According to SCORE International’s website, "This was the toughest Baja 1000 ever to be run."
