AME Info is audited by ABC ELECTRONIC To sample some of Bahrain's past, a visit to the A'ali Burial Mounds (the world's largest cemetery) is recommended. Other sites of antiquity include The House of Al Jasra (birthplace of the Amir, the ruler of Bahrain) and the Al Fateh Grand Mosque (Bahrai's largest mosque).

Bahrain held parliamentary and municipal council elections in two rounds on November 25 and December 2. Voter participation in the first round was 73 percent of all registered voters. In second round runoff races 69 percent of those eligible to vote cast ballots. Although there was a small group of eligible voters who maintained a boycott of the elections, all political societies, including the four that boycotted the 2002 elections, participated in the elections.

Bahrain filters a very small number of Internet sites to prevent its citizens from accessing them. The OpenNet Initiative's (ONI) testing of more than 6,000 targeted sites revealed only eight sites blocked from those seeking access from within Bahrain. Three of the blocked sites were pornographic. The other filtered sites covered political and religious topics. When a site is blocked in Bahrain, the person seeking to access it is served one of two "block pages" - Web pages with text indicating that the requested content cannot be accessed. This modest filtering regime is supported by both a legal context and a technical infrastructure.
Bahrain experiences extremely hot and humid weather from April to October, with temperatures regularly rising to 43°C (110°F) and sometimes reaching 52°C (125°F). Winters are milder, with temperatures ranging between 10° and 20°C (50° and 70°F). Annual rainfall averages about 100 mm (about 4 in) and falls almost entirely during the winter months. Seasonal winds periodically cause sandstorms and rough seas. The shimal, a northerly wind, blows in June and July, and the gaws comes from the south before or after the shimal.

Bahrain IT services spending should reach around US$65mn in 2006. Of that total, around US$21mn (40%) is expected to be support and maintenance, with SI the second largest category. Most vendors in the region see an opportunity to expand the services portion of their revenues, as enterprises look to get more out their IT investments. With around two-thirds of SMBs in the region found by a recent survey to lack an IT manager, vendors are waking up to the need to compete through more direct investment in support and service infrastructures, rather than relying solely on partners. Multinational company subsidiaries remain a major market sector, while an economic environment of liberalisation and privatisations will generate more opportunities.
The best time to visit Bahrain is November-March, with October & April being just bearable. Be sure to take along a sweater during December-March, evenings can be cool. Bahrain's summer, which is from May-September, is very hot and humid, though occasional cool northerly winds blow to provide some relief. More frequent are the qaws, the hot, dry summer winds that can bring sandstorms.
