A trip to Bahamas can be great any time of the year, but there are some weather and seasonal considerations. Hurricane season begins in June and ends in November, and in general the spring and summer tend to be rainy and colder then the winter. Winter is easily the busiest season for a trip to Bahamas, and tourism in the Bahamas during the winter will drive prices up. Higher costs can be avoided by avoiding travel during the winter. Temperatures are moderate throughout the year, usually ranging between 60 and 80 degrees depending on the season.

In an exclusive interview with the Bahamas leading daily newspaper, The Tribune, Kerzner President Butch Kerzner said Dubai, "is investing tens of billions of dollars in their infrastructure. Their growth in tourism is phenomenal. In six years they have taken their arrivals from 4 to 16 million and this year they are track to do 18 million". This contrasts sharply with the Bahamas, where air arrivals have fallen by an alarming rate over the past six years and are now hovering around 1 million stay-over visitors per year.

The United States leased areas for bases in the Bahamas in World War II and in 1950 signed an agreement with Great Britain for the establishment of a proving ground and a tracking station for guided missiles. In 1955 a free trade area was established at the town of Freeport. It proved enormously successful in stimulating tourism and has attracted offshore banking.
