Badfinger is an album by rock band, Badfinger. The album was recorded in the autumn of 1973 and released in 1974 on Warner Bros. Records. It was the first of two albums released by the band on the Warner label.

The first Badfinger album, Magic Christian Music had been a conglomeration of songs from their earlier Iveys incarnation, songs for The Magic Christian film, and assorted new material. This time around, Pete, Tom, Mike and new member Joey, would record an entire L.P. as a unit.

A reissue of Badfinger's second album, it has five previously unreleased tracks. The disc features "No Matter What," a huge worldwide Top Ten hit for the group. Also included is "Without You," a Pete Ham/Tom Evans tune which was covered and made it into a mega-hit by Harry Nilsson.

Following the group's last American tour, Badfinger recorded Wish You Were Here at the Caribou Ranch recording studio in Colorado. Unlike their previous two albums, Badfinger's Wish You Were Here was very well received by Rolling Stone Magazine and other periodicals upon its release in 1974.

On Friday, October 6, 2006, a new film from Warner Brothers Pictures, called "The Departed" was released to theaters featuring the Badfinger recording of Baby Blue from the "Straight Up" album. It is ... included on the soundtrack album. The film was produced by Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, and Mark Wahlber. The trailer does not included Baby Blue, but does include some other songs in the film like Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones and a cover version by Roger Waters & Van Morrison of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. The soundtrack album was released on November 7, 2006.

Badfinger's second album, Straight Up was released in 1972, and it spawned two successful singles, "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue." George Harrison and Todd Rundgren took production credits on the LP, Badfinger's most commercially successful record, with Harrison playing the slide guitar solo on "Day After Day". Decades later, "Straight Up" ranked as the most-requested CD release among out-of-print albums in a Goldmine Magazine readers poll.
