Bad Company: Civil War
built 646 days ago
Bad Company departs from the multiplayer focus of past iterations, emphasizing instead a story-driven campaign. You play as Preston Marlow, a member of Company B—a delinquent squad of the US Army stationed to fight in a volatile war between the United States, Russia, and a revolutionary faction in the Middle East. Amid the chaos of the conflict, the company comes across a truck full of gold bouillon. Living up to their reputation as bad boys, they decide to hijack the gold for themselves. (Think Three Kings without Clooney) Marlow, joined by compatriots Sarge, Haggard, and Sweetwater, ditch their given mission and embark on an ill-fated fetching quest for gold.

Set during the Civil War, Bad Company stars Barry Brown as a Northern boy, Drew Dixon, who heads West to avoid getting drafted. He falls under the spell of Jake Rumsey (Jeff Bridges), an easygoing young con artist. Drew joins Jake's gang of boy bandits, who live by their wits and try to avoid confrontation with adult criminals like Big Joe (David Huddleston). It is Drew who must eventually save Jake from hanging, even though he realizes that his intervention could lead to his own execution. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A sleeper from the 1970s that still hasn't found its audience, Bad Company is a great Western. During the Civil War, Drew Dixon (Barry Brown) flees to Virginia City to avoid conscription into the Union Army and soon joins a gang of thieves led by Jake Rumsey (Jeff Bridges). A truly thoughtful Western directed by Robert Benton, with a wonderful single-piano score by Harvey Schmidt.
