The Backstreet Boys, or BSB, are a boy band and pop group formed in 1992 by manager Lou Pearlman that grew to considerable popularity in the late 1990s and the year 2000, but quietly slipped away from the charts. The band went on hiatus for 3 years.

"The Hits: Chapter One", 2001. In 2001, the Backstreet Boys kicked off the first leg of their "2001 Black & Blue World Tour", in which they were to perform on five continents within the span of 100 hours. The tour ... had extremely expensive production costs. The tour was featured on a CBS TV special, The Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life. To coincide with the special, TV Guide issued six different covers of the boys: five individual shots and one group photo.

The Backstreet Boys earned their title because they are rugged as hell and took on cops, weightlifters, lumberjacks and professional wrestlers in a series of historical street brawls. The only group they were not able to defeat were the Jets, finding the highly choreographed moves too difficult to defend against.
Never Gone, 2005. European popularity grew, and the Backstreet Boys kicked off 1996 being voted the No.1 International Group by TV viewers in Germany - "I'll Never Break Your Heart" went gold there and hit No.1 in Austria. The group earned their first Platinum record in Germany and toured Asia and Canada.

Destiny's Child said they were surprised to beat out stiff competition like *Nsync, O-Town and The Backstreet Boys to win the award for favourite pop group. The show was staged at the Universal Amphitheatre and will air Aug. 20 on Fox. Votes for favourite actors, musicians and athletes were cast on forms published in Seventeen magazine and made available online.
