Debonair hip hop artist Snoop Dogg hosted the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, where pop punk goddess Avril Lavigne was the biggest winner, taking home two awards -- Most Addictive Track and Solo Artist of 2007. Album of the Year was won by Nelly Furtado for 'Loose,' which sold seven million copies, while 30 Seconds to Mars triumphed in the Rock Out category. Linkin Park took home the gong for Band of 2007, while the on-going feud between Kanye West and Justice was settled once and for all when Justice won the Video Star prize for the second year in a row. The U.K.'s biggest rock act Muse scooped the best live act 'Headliner' Award and won the U.K. and Ireland category.
Avril Lavigne's third album The Best Damn Thing debuted at No. 1 in the U.S. as well. The album was produced with the help of her husband, Deryck Whibley of the band Sum 41, and the single "Hot" was a huge success (Avril performed this hit at the American Music Awards). A small tour followed.

Avril Lavigne When Let Go was released, Avril Lavigne was just 17. She sang about not fitting in, her crushes, her heart being broken and she sang it like a rockstar. It wasn't long before girls everywhere were trading in their midriff-bearing outfits for T-shirts, Dickies and Chucks. Well, that same hard-rockin' chica hit back with her second album, Under My Skin, which featured the track, Don't Tell Me. This time being a little older and a little wiser, she still rocked the message of girl power, just in a different way. Chantal Kreviazuk helped Avril on some of her songs and has supported her throughout her career. Avril Lavigne says she draws inspiration from bands like the Goo Goo Dolls, Incubus and Matchbox 20.

She is very musical In 2007, Avril released a new album. Its reviews were overwhelming positive, and she was credited with giving it much of its meaningful lyrical content. Her first single, "Girlfriend," did not perform well on the charts, and only made it to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some think its commercial failure is because most average Americans aren't able to grasp its deep content. There was ... this big crazy lawsuit against her after most average Americans realised that the song had been totally copied. But after Avril let rip with a frenzied attack of excess saliva, the lawyers backed down.
In 2005, just three years after her debut album appeared, Lavigne was again the top-honored entertainer at Canada's Juno Awards. She received five nominations and took home three prizes, including the Best Artist award and a second win for Best Pop Album. Lavigne ... announced that she would be adventuring more into film by lending her voice to a character in an animated movie called Over the Hedge, scheduled for a 2006 release. Perhaps the biggest bit of personal Lavigne news came in June 2005, when the Canadian "punk princess" became engaged to boyfriend Deryck Whibley (1980–), lead singer of the Canadian punk-rock group Sum 41.
