The new Audi TT marks the premiere of a new generation of audio systems. It is characterized by state-of-the-art reception and playback technology and intuitive user control. Six so-called softkeys control a variety of functions depending on which menu is selected. The chorus radio system with single CD drive comes as standard. A Bluetooth interface is available for mobile phones. The telephone function can be operated via the MMI, the multifunction steering wheel and by speech control.

In August 2004, Audi announced that the next-generation TT will be made of aluminium and would go into production in 2007. A TT concept (the Audi Shooting Brake) was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. This concept featured angular styling and a "shooting brake" 2-door hatchback body style.[1]

COMFORT: Despite the tight exterior dimensions, space abounds inside of the Audi TT -- for two, anyway. It is a "2+2" configuration, meant primarily for two adults with space for two small children in the rear. The TT's interior is as striking as its exterior, with aluminum accents around the air vents, instruments, and controls, and aluminum door handles. The "high-tech-meets-retro" motif works well. Despite all of the style, the TT's interior is completely, logically functional. Leather upholstery is standard.

With its rounded body and handsome, aluminum-trimmed interior, Audi's TT remains fresh even without a major redesign since its 2000 debut. The high beltline and symmetrical curves make it look something like a modern-day Volkswagen Karmann Ghia from the 1960s.

Audi of America said its U.S. sales totaled 6,399 units in January, up 5.2 percent from a year earlier, setting a record for the month. It credited the A4 sedan and the Q7 SUV for the gains. U.S. sales for the Volkswagen brand were up 2.3 percent to 16,610 units, the automaker said.

Making light work: the Audi TT quattro sport keeps a very close eye on weight ? conspicuously so, in fact, and in detail too. A mere glance inside the Coup? is sufficient to confirm that its weight has been reduced. The rear bench seat has been removed, instead of which there are now a transverse brace and a net partition for securing items of luggage. Audi has replaced the sports seats with superb Recaro bucket seats that afford maximum lateral support.
