The Audi A4 was the first model in the Volkswagen Group to feature the new 1.8 L 20V motor with five valves per cylinder, based on the unit Audi Sport had developed for their Supertouring race car. A turbocharged version produced 150 PS (110 kW) and 210 Nm (155 ft·lbf.) of torque. This technology was added to the V6 family in 1996, starting with the 2.8 L V6 30V, which now produced 193 PS (142 kW).

When Audi rolled out the current A4 in 2004, the company made a radical change in styling to help improve its image and increase sales. The 2008 Audi A4 is largely unchanged, pending a redesign due in calendar 2008 as a 2009 model. New for 2008 is an RS 4 Cabriolet. Audi's top-selling car line features sedans, Avant wagons, and Cabriolet convertibles. All come in A4 and high-performance S4 trim. There's ... a super-performance RS 4 sedan and convertible. One of Audi's most popular models is the A4 which was introduced as a replacement for the Audi 80 in the nineties decade. Audi Car features has an engine that was aligned longitudinally which was in keeping with the trademark four wheel drive of Audi Models.
