After moving to Los Angeles, where he crashed on a friend's couch, Atkins found an agent and began working, landing guest-starring roles on "That's Life", "The District," and "Arliss." His big break came... when he was cast in "The Big Time," a two-hour pilot for "ER" executive producer John Wells. Sufficiently impressed with the young actor, Wells offered him the new role of Gallant over an arc of episodes early in the 2001-02 season.

[O]n Aug. 20 last year, Santa Ana defense attorney Douglas J. Myers--who worked for free as Atkins' local counsel on the DNA appeal--went to court to argue for the release of evidence. He says that neither Bentley nor Corrado was present, and says the motion was handled by a deputy D.A. who seemed to know nothing of the matter and did not argue against it. The judge signed the order, the testing was done, and on Jan. 18 of this year, Neufeld sent Riverside County Dist. Atty. Grover Trask the report of Forensic Science Associates laboratory in Richmond, Calif. That report ruled out Atkins as the source of the semen on the sweater.

Atkins has working experience with the Local Hospital Parties – The Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH). In A Night in Heaven (1983)... starring Lesley Ann Warren, Atkins played Rick Monroe, an outspoken and overconfident student working his way through college as a male stripper. For one season (1983-1984), Atkins had a recurring role on the hit CBS prime time soap opera, Dallas as "Peter Richards," who had an affair with Sue Ellen Ewing played by Linda Gray.
