The Associate Degree is the educational goal of a broad range of students. For some, it means completion of formal education and entry into the workforce as trained professionals. For others, it is the first stage of an educational process which includes transfer to a four-year college. In either case, earning an associate degree lays the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth.

The two-year Associate Degree is a collection of academic courses that are fully transferable to any BC university or university-college, as well as universities across Canada. It’s the first half of a Bachelor Degree, but it’s ... a recognized credential on its own. That’s important if you decide not to continue into 3rd year studies. Camosun offers many different Associate Degree programs in Arts and Science.

An Associate Degree in General Studies requires 60 total credit hours, 20 of which must be in residence at WSU. Concurrent Enrollment and Early College credits will count toward the required residency credits. AP and CLEP credits will not count toward the residency requirement. Depending on the course options chosen, the general education credits will total around 47. This leaves about 13 elective credits to sum the 60 total credits required.

To receive an Associate Degree a student must complete a major course of study of at least 18 college units from the SRJC list of approved majors. A major provides coherence, focus, depth, sequencing, and synthesis of learning. A course may be used to satisfy both a General Education requirement and a major requirement (Title 5, 55806). Within the major, a course may not be used more than one time to meet a major requirement.
