Ashley moved to SmackDown in June 2006. She became an announcer and almost immediately got in a feud with fellow announcer Kristal. Kristal was a losing contestant in the 2005 Diva Search contest. Ashley then became the manager of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick. As manager of the team, she became involved in their feuds because their opponents were usually managed by Divas like Michelle McCool and Melina.

After WrestleMania, Ashley continued as a valet for WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick. In storyline, on the April 13 episode of SmackDown!, Ashley was attacked by Jillian Hall.[22] In reality, Ashley had loosened a screw in her ankle that needed to be surgically repaired by being reinserted into a plate in her ankle, which was inserted last year after Ashley legitimately fractured her tibia and fibula while in a battle royal.[23] Ashley returned a couple months later seeking revenge on Jillian for injuring her. Her return was short lived when on the June 8 edition of SmackDown!, Ashley was kayfabe suspended indefinitely after accidentally spilling Mr. McMahon's coffee on him.[24] In reality, Ashley was taking time off to participate on the show Survivor.

Ashley triumphantly returned to the WWE action in a non-active role a few weeks later, and further into the year, she ... became the manager for the tag team of Paul London and Brian Kendrick. Content with her efforts and her growing star status, WWE rewarded her with a three-year contract extension.
