Ashanti no longer needs extra gas. She has a modeling contract with Candie's Shoes and has begun to rack up acting credits on both the small and big screens including a starring role in Warner Brothers 2003 remake of Sparkle. In November of 2002 Hyperion released a collection of her poems, and she was scheduled to float through New York in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Reflecting on this incredible success she told www.alloy.com, "Oh, man, I would have never thought! It was like an eight and a half year struggle." Those years provided great momentum.

In the May of 1945 Ashanti joined the newly established Ethiopian-led organisation African Alliance, but with some reservations. In the same year Ashanti joined the Second Great War by attacking and overtaking Gadangmeland. This was done quickly after the German invasion of Rygen and only a day after the Ethiopian invasion of Meregh. Although some of the Gadangmelanders, expecting the danger, fled the country before the invasion, others remained. Many of those others were massacred during the invasion. It is alleged that Azikiwe himself gave orders for the army to "be ruthless towards the Scandinavian colonialists". After the occupation, Gadangmeland was completely evacuated by the government of Ashanti with all its inhabittants being deported to other places of Ashanti; it was done in such a way that nowhere the concentration of Gadangmelanders would be large so that they would quickly assimilate to the local cultures (and mostly they were forced to live in shacks in villages).

Just before Ashanti's high school graduation, a new record label came knocking. Ashanti faced a major decision: She could head off to college on a generous track scholarship, or she could make another go at a singing career. Ultimately, she chose a singing career, and she moved to Atlanta to get started on her debut album. Again, the label relationship fell apart. Ashanti came back to Glen Cove, took on telemarketing and daycare work, and contemplated her next move.

As reported below, Ashanti began shooting the video for her new single "The Way That I Love You" on February 7th. Ashanti is shooting the video in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles. The director of the video will be Kevin Bray (Brandy, Savage Garden, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Houston).
