Character actor, Arthur Hunnicutt, under Haas' direction, delivers an effectively odd performance as an alien-controlled farmer. The grizzled Hunnicutt appeared on many popular 50's and 60's television shows, including "The Twilight Zone," inwhich he played a recently deceased farmer whose dog saves him from being tricked into entering Hell.

The story, based on a popular novel by A.B. Guthrie, Jr., has Douglas and Martin joining trapper Hunnicutt, fresh from prison, as he leads a French expedition to visit the friendly Blackfoot Indians to trade furs. Accompanying the expedition on its 2,000-mile journey is a beautiful Blackfoot princess (Elizabeth Threatt) with whom both younger men fall in love. The journey is complicated by interference from the powerful Fur Trade Organization and attacks by Crow Indians.

Hunnicutt was famous for playing a man much older than his actual age. When Percy Kilbride retired at 67 years old from the Ma and Pa Kettlemovie series in 1955, Hunnicutt, though only 40, essentially replaced the Pa Kettle character by playing Ma's brother-in-law, Sedge, in The Kettles in the Ozarks.
