Arnold Stang is a show business animal. In fact he is a whole zoo of animals, a cat, a mouse, a turtle or two, birds, fish. His Internet Movie Data Base entry goes on for pages. He is a character actor with a lot of characters and a lot of character.
Stang Arnold Stang had the look of a bird, the voice of a Bowery newsboy and the ability to upstage the biggest comedy stars of his day. His radio, television and film career had him right in the thick of many amazing and often very weird productions. His voice is one of the most distinct and unmistakable in the history of show business. He will turn eighty-two years old later this year.

At this point Arnold Stang made his entrance to become "Gerard" on the Henry Morgan Show episode in which Henry (tastefully impersonated by Jess Cain) tries to fix Gerard up with a bimbette named Minerva. Played by Ellen Kelly, Minerva provides mood music for the courting ritual with her vacuum cleaner. The ever cautious Gerard makes it hilariously clear that he isn’t having any -- thank you very much! The audience, old and young, fell in love with Arnold Stang all over again.

Arnold Stang is not just another pretty voice, he is ... a face actor. In It`s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Arnold plays Ray, one of two garage mechanics who have to fight Jonathan Winters.
Schwarzenegger’s first film as “Arnold Strong” teams him with perennial nerd Arnold Stang in a bizarre Hercules tale. The film in retrospect is a blueprint for Schwarzenegger’s mythological journey to success and heroic stature. Hercules and bodybuilding in 50s and 60s masculinity are examined.

Countrystang_3 While waiting patiently to score a film role, Stang had no trouble finding work in Hollywood radio programs. He performed on the popular "ethnic comedy" The Goldbergs and on Gangbusters as various no-name wiseguys. He had his biggest radio part to date ona radio show titled The Remarkable Miss Tuttle that was, in reality, rather unremarkable. It starred one of the great faces of thirties cinema, Edna Mae Oliver, as the title character and Stang as Miss Tuttle's nephew.
