Arnold Schwarzenegger: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
built 648 days ago
Voters in 12 states have legalized medical marijuana and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently said marijuana "is not a drug. It's a leaf." Yet the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) ignores these laws and continues to assault patients and caregivers in states where medical marijuana is legal. Why is the federal government disregarding state laws passed by millions of voters? Because the feds classify marijuana and heroin as equals. The government bogusly claims marijuana has "no accepted medical use" and a "high potential for abuse."

Once the world's leading bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger went on to become one of Hollywood's biggest stars and then the governor of California. Nicknamed "The Austrian Oak," he started pumping iron when he was a teenager and in 1965 won the Mr. Europe Junior title. He went on to win five Mr. Universe titles (both amateur and professional) and was named Mr. Olympia seven times (1970-75 and 1980). After a few small roles in the movies, he appeared in the documentary Pumping Iron (1977) and played a bodybuilder in the movie Stay Hungry (1976, with Sally Field), and his natural charisma led to more movies and recognition. He starred in the hit movie Conan The Barbarian in 1982 and was suddenly a movie star. He had another big hit in 1984, starring in James Cameron's The Terminator.

At about this time, the Arnold Schwarzenegger began to take an interest in politics. It tried (with limited success) to refrain from making the typically idiotic political comments usually spewed by entertainers while taking an interest in politically-connected "public service" campaigns carefully selected to introduce it to political powerbrokers without seeming too threatening. Infected with the Conservative.Repub.32.exe virus, the Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the Republican Party. In 2003, with the Overlord Program thoroughly corrupted by Conservative.Repub.32.exe, the Schwarzenegger seized control of the California governorship. Thousands of Californians lined the streets to worship it as its motorcade rolled into Sacramento with former governor Grey Davis' head impaled on a long pike leading the way.

The collapse of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s California health plan was anti-climactic. For months, it was clear that the complex $14 billion proposal reached by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and liberals in the California state legislature was a political non-starter. In the process of hammering out the details with the help of liberal health policy analysts, the Governor managed to alienate entire classes of groups and institutions which should have been his natural allies: the business community, doctors and hospitals, Republicans in the state legislature and the conservative voters in the state, and voters of every partisan persuasion who did not think it was a good idea for taxpayers to subsidize health insurance for illegal aliens. Alienating that many constituencies over one issue is a unique achievement. So, it was a good lesson in the politics of health care reform, and what exactly not to do.
