In 1992 Armstrong turned professional and soon became a dominant force on the European tour. In 1993 he won 10 titles, including his first stage victory in the Tour de France and the title of youngest world road-racing champion ever. During the next two years Armstrong continued to impress with more victories and a world ranking of No 1, but the gruelling nature of the month-long Tour de France proved too much and overall victory in that event eluded him.
Armstrong moves on now, relentlessly cutting through the Tour de France today - that's been shattered all over the Pyrenees. Letting them all run like a great fisherman and then reeling them in, one after another.

Mike Celizic Landis won last year’s Tour de France, the first person in eight years not named Lance Armstrong to wear the yellow jersey into Paris on the scandal-ridden race’s final day. But race officials said that Landis had tested positive for an excess of testosterone. A test of the back-up samples confirmed the initial test.
The strong performance of the Discovery Channel team at the Tour de France has prompted Lance Armstrong to consider making an appearance at the race he won a record seven straight times. Armstrong had planned to skip this year's race. Now that his former team has two riders among the top four, he is rethinking his plans.
Coyle has been testing Armstrong, who will retire from cycling after this Tour de France, for 13 years. The result is a rare comprehensive study of an athlete over his entire career. Coyle's findings were reported in a recent issue of the Journal of Applied Physiology.
