Located in the City of Ariel, a bustling community of 20,000 people in the Samarian hills, the University Center is helping to pioneer a new future for Israel and its younger generation. Established in 1982, the University Center has since grown and diversified to meet the new challenges of a burgeoning society with rapidly changing needs.

Ariel advocates Schizophrenics are Shamans, Indigenous technology is sacred, and Earth Rights First. Originally from California; she traveled extensively in Latin America; lived in remote villages, learning indigenous language, magic, and art. She is in Austin working on a book which is Spiritual/Political/Art: A critique of technocracy and commonly held views of reality. Bruce and Heather Johnston, longtime friends of Ariel and owners of the JH Ranch in northern California, have hosted teens from Ariel several times in their Second Wind program. In January, Bruce and Heather came to Ariel with the staff of the JH Ranch. They were hosted by Ariel families and enjoyed numerous activities with Ariel?s youth groups. Some highlights of their visit included an evening of song and dance by "For Zion's Sake" and Ariel soldiers now serving in the IDF entertainment troupes; they ... welcomed in the Sabbath with the soldiers on Antenna Hill adjacent to Ariel and participated in a ?Caf? Dilemma? program?group discussions of problems relevant to young people everywhere, such as the fight against terror, rising anti-Semitism, hate sites on the Internet and ways for Christians and Jews to work together.

Ariel has 26 preschools, 4 elementary schools, a religious school (grades 1-9), two junior high schools and a high school. Ariel's new Sports & Recreation Complex will ultimately house an indoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, showers and changing rooms, a multi-purpose hall, activity and games rooms, a day care center, kitchen and cafeteria, lobby, reception and offices. Tennis courts, a miniature golf course, gymnasium and fitness center have already been completed and are operating full-time.

With producer and pianist Ryan Luckey, Ariel formed The Luckey Brothers, creatively blending party, politics and prayer in holistic hip hop music. The Luckey Brothers produced hip hop theatre piece REBIRTH: the first breath and released their first CD Soul City Sky Lights in 2005. Ariel is ... a member of Obakoso, an Afro-Cuban Drum and Dance Ensemble.

This image of Ariel shows a world pock-marked with craters. Across its surface long rift valleys extend. Ariel has canyons similar to those on Mars, with canyon floors that appear to have been smoothed by a fluid. The fluid could not have been water because water acts like steel at these temperatures.
