This domination is only going to get stronger once Aree Song becomes as big a force on the LPGA Tour as she and her sister were as amateurs. Another Korean, Seol-An Jeon, is three spots behind Song (No. 14) and in the running for rookie of the year.

Aree Song celebrated her 18th birthday by shooting a 2-under-par 70 in the third round of the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship, giving herself a chance to become the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history. A star-studded pack trails Song. Mi-Hyun Kim is one behind and Annika Sorenstam, Grace Park and Se Ri Pak trail by two.

[L]ater that summer, Aree had a magnificent performance at the US Women's Open, finishing fifth. She was only two shots out of the playoff that ended up crowning the champion, and for a while, it looked like she might be in it herself. This performance convinced her to turn pro rather than go to college, and for the first time, the Wonder Twins were pursuing different paths.

"Although she was just 17, Aree had the same level of education as someone who had graduated from high school," Votaw said. "She made the cut in 11 of 14 LPGA events she played as an amateur and made the cut in every major. It was an easy decision to allow her to attempt to qualify."

With shadows falling on the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, Sarah Lee eagled the 513-yard, par-5 18th hole to finish 12 under and grab a 1-stroke lead over Aree Song in the Safeway International. Paula Creamer and Suzann Pettersen were tied for third, two strokes back.
