1. Area 51
   Area 51... known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated -- with varying levels of credibility -- with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51.
2. Area 51 -- Games
   The original Area 51 was an arcade hit in the '90s in which two players fired optical guns at prerendered screens, advancing to a showdown with the alien mothership. Midway's first-person adaptation extends the premise of the original with an involved story, impressive graphics, and voices from Hollywood players such as David Duchovny. Like many FPS demos, this single-player version is too short and too easy, but it hints at the full game's strong potential.
3. Area 51 -- Groom Lake
   The real legend of Area 51 — that the base is used to house and reverse-engineer crashed flying saucers — is actually a relatively recent creation. It began around 1989, when a guy named Bob Lazar told a Las Vegas television program that he had worked at Groom Lake and had seen the flying saucers with his own eyes.
4. Mel Brooks -- Gene Wilder
   Mel Brooks, on his first directorial outing, scores a wild hit. Zero Mostel is a conniving theater producer, Gene Wilder his timid accountant. Together they persuade little old ladies into investing in their play "Springtime for Hitler," which they secretly hope will be a surefire flop. Kenneth Mars and Dick Shawn are marvelous as the play's writer and star. 90 min. 5. Space Shuttle Challenger -- Rogers Commission
   To honor the seven crew members of the space shuttle Challenger, Republican Leader Robert Dole of Kansas and Democratic Leader Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia proposed that a commemorative mural be placed in the Senate wing of the U.S. Capitol. The Senate Commission on Art, with the recommendation of a five-member advisory panel composed of museum professionals from the Smithsonian Institution, NASA, and the U.S. Capitol, selected Philadelphia artist Charles Schmidt for the commission. Schmidt's completed mural was placed in an empty oval in the Brumidi Corridors on the first floor of the Capitol's Senate wing, and unveiled on March 3, 1987.
6. Rob Schneider -- Movies
   The idea that Rob Schneider stars movies is enough to drive a person mad. Furthermore, the fact that he is actually planning to direct a flick pretty much signals that the apocalypse is coming.
7. Jorja Fox -- New York
   Mar 05 2005 - Jorja Fox was mentioned in an article in the New York Times about "dip 'n' dunks," , what old-styled photo booths are called in Hollywood. The article said "Patti Peck, the owner of Edendale Grill Restaurant and Mixville Bar in the Silver Lake area here, which has had a booth since 2003 that has been a draw for actors like Jared Leto and Jorja Fox, explained the dip 'n' dunk process. "Inside, there's a carousel of little different chemicals, and the little piece of paper gets dipped in one solution and then the next solution and then 'Yoink!' " she said, mimicking the sound of a photo strip arriving. "It's kind of magical."
8. Michael Douglas -- Miscellaneous
   The hit thriller that scared the pants back on adulterers stars Michael Douglas as a married attorney who has a weekend tryst with editor Glenn Close. The affair soon becomes an obsession to the unbalanced Close, who harasses Douglas' family and eventually threatens their lives. Anne Archer co-stars. 119 min. 9. Chaplin, Charlie -- Edna Purviance
   Charlie Chaplins 52nd Film Released June 12 1916. The Fireman was the second film Charlie Chaplin created for Mutual Films in 1916. Released in June 1916, it starred Charlie as the fireman and Edna Purviance as the daughter to Leo White. Leo White played a character trying to arrange with Eric Campbell (the fire chief) to have his house burn down so he could collection the insurance money. Shows some early day street scenes in the surrounding Los Angeles area.
10. Pallet Truck -- Pallet Trucks
