The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin is the realization of Wright's idea that architects should develop their skills through hands-on experience. Students of the School are educated through a program that includes architectural studio work, construction, social and cultural programs and supplementary classes. The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture offers programs leading to two degrees: the pre-professional Bachelor of Architectural Studies and the professional Master of Architecture. The School, including both programs, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools http://www.ncahlc.org/ . The National Architectural Accrediting Board accredits the professional, Master of Architecture degree. The School is operated by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Scottsdale, Ariz. In late September the Architecture Program teamed up with faculty and student colleagues in Planning, Historic Preservation, and Real Estate Development to participate in a project called Greener Greenbelt. The project was the brainchild of Maryland alumni Carl Elefante, AIA, LEED and Melanie Hennigan, AIA-Potomac Valley President along with Urban Studies and Planning Program Director Jim Cohen. Greener Greenbelt was the AIA-Potomac Valley contribution to the American Institute of Architects 150th birthday celebration program, Blueprint for America. Greener Greenbelt focused on the historic New Deal era town of Greenbelt, Maryland. Greenbelt was designed and built in the 1930s as a self-contained new town to house modest-income Federal employees. Team members focused on the themes of livability, sustainability, affordability, and historic preservation to ensure that Greenbelt will remain a viable community well into the future.

The undergraduate professional program is five years in length and leads to the Bachelor of Architecture, a first professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). The students are highly qualified and undertake their architectural studies from the very beginning of their first year. Situated within the broader context of Rensselaer, the School of Architecture ... draws widely upon other professional programs to build a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to design. Upon admission there are no further junctures in the program that require additional admission decisions.
