Archetypes
built 633 days ago
Archetypes are all over the place; in the movies, on TV, in books. People need archetypes. They need to define a person and put a label on them so that hey can better understand who they are and what they do. If someone is labeled as the villain in the story, you can’t bring yourself to admit that maybe s/he has other character traits than just being evil. Whatever that person does, s/he will never be seen in the same light as a hero. Even if a villain tries to do the right thing, the motives for doing so will be immoral; while the hero can do whatever s/he pleases.

Archetypes are patterns of energy that are easily recognizable and resonant to human beings, and become the unconscious frameworks that determine how/why people think and react. The name comes from Greek archetypos, "original pattern." Archetypes are universally familiar characters or situations that transcend time, place, culture, gender, and age. They represent eternal truths.

"Formed in the spring of 2006, The Archetypes entered the Rhode Island rock scene on a mission. Disenchanted with the posturing of local cover bands, singer/songwriter Ted Comerford and guitarist Mike Burdon began writing songs of their own in a dilapidated and abandoned building in Jamestown, RI. Bass player Jeremy Thomas and drummer Matt Cavanaugh were longtime friends of Comerford and Burdon and were invited to join the newly forming group almost from the outset. All members are hardened musicians and all have completely varied and distinct musical backgrounds. Drawing from influences in the genres of folk, classic rock, punk/hardcore, and reggae, the blend of sounds work to create a unique style. Whatever forces were at work, the combination paid off and the foursome became The Archetypes.

Archetypes even present themselves through animals so if you have a pet or are attracted to certain animals (or other forms of nature), then you are connecting to aspects of yourself. Just like they say ‘pets are like their owners’ because you have a similar universal make-up. There is an archetypal connection and soul contract that is taking place in every relationship and every aspect of your life. It’s time to learn the language of archetypes, live a life of symbolic guidance and experience the alchemy of your own soul’s journey.

Archetypes have been present in folklore and literature for thousands of years and appear to be present in prehistoric artwork. The use of archetypes to analyze personality was advanced by Carl Jung early in the 20th century. The value in using archetypal characters in fiction derives from the fact that a large group of people are able to unconsciously recognize the archetype, and ... the motivations, behind the character's behavior.

Archetypes, or Archangels, or Dreaming Ancestors may be understood as agents of Creation, or manifestation, the vehicles through which the Dreaming Mind continuously brings the Universe into being. You might think of the archetypes as a number of blueprint patterns, existing as thoughtforms, that project themselves into being by enlivening or animating matter.
