1. April Fools Day -- People
   The origin of April Fools' Day is traditionally attributed to events in 16th century France. In 1582, the Gregorian Calendar was adopted. In the old calendar, April 1 was the start of the New Year. In the Gregorian calendar January 1 is the beginning of the New Year. Many people got confused by this and celebrated April 1 as New Year's Day. Those who knew better would play tricks on them, and call them "April Fools". The custom of playing tricks on people on April 1 continues to this day.
2. April Fools Day -- Pranks
   The April Fools Day hoaxes are only pranks and fair games. Nowadays, different media houses too organize such fun games to entertain public. There are a number of monthly journals too, which prepare such things too in their April version.
3. April Fools Day
   April Fools Day ... called ALL FOOLS Day, first day of April, named from the custom of playing practical jokes or sending friends on fools errands on that date. Although it has been observed for centuries in several countries, the origin of the custom is unknown.
4. April Fools Day -- April 1
   Perhaps the most widely accepted theory of the origin of April Fools’ Day goes back to a time when the western world employed the Julian calendar. At that time, new years began on March 25 and festivals marking the start of the New Year were celebrated on the first day of April because March 25 fell during a Holy Week. However, after the adoption of the Gregorian calendar in the 1500s, the New Year moved to January 1. The "April fools" were those who could be tricked into believing April 1 was still the proper day to celebrate the New Year. The key prank during this time was for French peasants to unexpectedly drop in on neighbors on that day in an effort to confuse them into thinking they were receiving a New Year's call. And out of that one lark supposedly grew the tradition of testing the patience of family and friends.
5. April Fools Day -- Practical Jokes
   The style of April Fools’ pranks has changed over the years. Sending the unsuspecting on pointless errands was an especially prized practical joke in those earlier post-Julian days. In modern times, that form of pranking has shifted away from April Fools’ merriment and seemingly become a rite of initiation into many groups, both formal and informal. New campers are routinely sent on a mission to retrieve the left-handed smoke shifter from its last borrower by more experienced campers who then quietly guffaw to themselves as the tenderfoot wanders about in vain on his quest. Others are often roped in to add to the hilarity, with each person the newcomer asks pointing him in towards yet someone else who will further the joke. Rookie pilots are sent in search of a bucket of prop wash, and new carnies sent on wild goose chases for the elusive keys to the fairgrounds.
6. April Fools Day -- King Kong
   [One] explanation of the origins of April Fools' Day was provided by Joseph Boskin, a professor of history at Boston University. He explained that the practice began during the reign of Constantine, when a group of court jesters and fools told the Roman emperor that they could do a better job of running the empire. Constantine, amused, allowed a jester named Kugel to be king for one day. Kugel passed an edict calling for absurdity on that day, and the custom became an annual event.
7. April -- April Fools

April Fool's Day started back in the caveman days when a Neanderthal would hide some dinosaur meat from another on that special day and then cry, "Ack!" Of course, this came before language became developed. But you get the picture. Ack, eventually became, Ack Fool which turned into April Fools!
8. April -- April Fool
   April fools t-shirts just came into vogue during the American Civil War. Northern and Southern soldiers would occasionally take a break from pelting each other with bullets and play pranks on each otherr instead. The most favorite of the April fools pranks played, they called Cannonball Toe where a soldier would distract one of the oppositon's soldier as a buddy dropped a cannonball on his big toe. Another favorite prank was called Flash Foot where one soldier would nonchalantly lead another soldier into a pile of gunpowder underfoot and then flick a cigarette on the pile. This was great fun for all of the Northern and Southern soldiers!
9. Fool for Love
   Paul Burch makes a good first impression on Fool for Love. There's a strange ambience to "Lovesick Blues Boy" -- the opener -- that creates a strong undercurrent. The bass-heavy production is simple but insistent, providing a dark underpinning for Burch's rich vocals. "Bad Girl She Used to Be" sounds like a '50s tune channeled through [T]he Velvet Underground and sweetened by a touch of romanticism. One quickly gains the belief that Burch knows where he's heading on Fool for Love and what he wants to achieve. The arrangements, for instance, don't seem a lot different than those used by the typical singer/songwriter.
10. April -- April Fish
    The commonly accepted origin of April Fool's Day involves changes in the calendar. At one time, the New Year celebration began on March 25 and ended on April 1. However, in 1582, King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian calendar and accepted the beginning of the new year as January 1. Those who refused to acknowledge the new date or simply forgot received foolish gifts and invitations to nonexistent parties. The butt of such a prank was known as a "poisson d'avril" or "April fish."
