Apocalyptica is a Finnish Cello metal trio (formerly a quartet), composed of classically trained cellists and, since 2005, a drummer. All three cellists are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.

Guys from Apocalyptica had started to play at their cellos hits of their idols – Metallica 10 years ago. Unusual acoustic backing as well as drive energetic from hot Finnish guys with bows in their hands became a guarantee of the growing success of musicians.

In 2006, Apocalyptica were featured briefly in the OOMPH! filmclip, Die Schlinge playing their cellos as the members of OOMPH! played their instruments (and sang) on a set of gallows in accordance to the song title.
