Aphrodite: Sea
built 607 days ago
Aphrodite Studios & Apartments is a family run resort on the beautiful island of the Aegean Sea, Samos. The hotel is located in the municipality of Marathokampos along Marathokampos Beach (Kampos or Votsalakia if you prefer), on the southwest coast of Samos; a calm and relaxing location, where nature meets the sea in the most impressive way.
The location of the birth of Aphrodite is most commonly given as the sea. The question is whether it is the sea off Cytherea or the sea off Paphos, Cyprus. Either is possible, and she seems to have connections with both sites.

Aphrodite is now being targeted towards improvements of the Seamonkey UI. This will lead to major changes in how Aphrodite is developed. The first stage of this change will be porting Aphrodite's skins to Seamonkey Themes. After the skins are ported to Seamonkey the next step will be improvements in the Graphics details.
The cult of the armed Aphrodite probably belongs to the earlier period of her worship in Greece, and down to the latest period of Greek history she retained this character in some of the Greek states. The cult is found not only where oriental influence was strongest, but in places remote from it, such as Sparta, where she was known by the name of Areia (" the warlike "), and there are numerous references in the Anthology to an Aphrodite armed with helmet and spear. It is possible that the frequent association of Aphrodite with Ares is to be explained by an armed Aphrodite early worshipped at Thebes, the most ancient seat of the worship of Ares.
Aphrodite is said to have arisen from the foam that gathered around the genitals of Uranus floating in the sea after his son Cronus cut them off. Aphrodite is ... called the daughter of Zeus and Dione or the Titans Oceanus and Tethys.
Aphrodite Early Greek Art represented Aphrodite either as the Oriental, nude-goddess type or as a standing or seated figure similar to all other goddesses. Aphrodite first attained individuality at the hands of the great 5th-century-BC Greek sculptors. Perhaps the most famous of all statues of Aphrodite was carved by Praxiteles for the Cnidians; it later became the model for such Hellenistic masterpieces as the Venus de Milo.
