Scott Beers, as Salieri, is a compelling and surprisingly likable villain—at first, anyway. His Salieri is driven by a humiliating recognition of his own mediocrity. Transitioning smoothly from the querulous infirmity of old age to the duplicitous cunning of a man bent on destruction, Beers gives a convincing and assured performance. David Richards plays Mozart almost too well, with unflaggingly manic energy. He is equally repulsive and charming. He means well, but is frustrated by society's narrow-mindedness and obsession with propriety.

Es ist eine FRECHHEIT zu behaupten, das Salieri kein guter Komponist war und ubedeutener als Mozart! Salieri hat vor Mozarts Ankunft schon mehr Opern geschrieben, als Mozart in seinem ganzen Leben. darum ist die Seiten Anzahl auch sehr berechtigt! . Ich will nicht sagen das Mozart kein guter Musiker war, ganz im gegenteil! Aber dass, was über Salieri erzählt wird, ist reiner RUFMORD, mehr nicht! Es gibt Dokumente, die beweisen, das Salieri und Mozart gut mit einander auskamen und Salieri half Mozart auch oft.

Through analysis of communications and personal accounts from many different sources it would appear that Mozart and Salieri were actually quite friendly to each other. While there were times when the 2 clashed, such as when Salieri summoned Lorenzo da Ponte (Mozart's lyricist for Don Giovanni) back to Vienna.
