This book, commissioned by the USDA and published in 1999, addresses the many benefits and risks associated with using antibiotics in feed animals. In the chapter titled "Costs of Eliminating sub-therapeutic Use of Antibiotics," the authors conclude that if there were a ban on sub-therapeutic drug use, the annual cost to consumers would be between $4.84 and $9.72 per capita.
