Anteater is a testing framework designed around Ant, from the Apache Jakarta Project. It provides an easy way to write tests for checking the functionality of a Web application or of an XML Web service. It can test either HTTP requests or replies in various sophisticated ways. The ability to wait for incoming HTTP messages is unique to Anteater, which makes it especially useful when building tests for applications that use high level SOAP-based communication and asynchronous SOAP messages. Anteater provides XML and text logging support and the ability to render the logs into HTML reports.

The Anteater project is a Mail Traffic Analyser. Anteater supports currently the logformat produced by Sendmail and by Postfix. The tool is written in 100% C++ and is very easy to customize. Input, output, and the analysis are modular class objects with a clear interface. There are eight useful analyse modules, writing the result in plain ASCII or HTML, to stdout or to files.

The Anteater is diurnally active and has a extreme specialization for an arboreal way of life. It can move rapidly through the trees, bleeding with its forelimbs and using even his tail to make easier the locomotion. The form of its bleeding is not the same to that shown by the gibbon. The body proportions give it its common name, just looking its limbs: long and slender. The tail is very prehensile and strong supporting the entire weight of the animal

The giant Anteater lives above ground, not burrowing underground like armadillos or aardvarks. The anteater finds a place to sleep, curls up, and covers itself with their bushy tail. Since the anteater is a very solitary animal, it can be easily woken. When attacked, it can defend itself with its sabre-like anterior claws.

The newer Anteater symbol is displayed as a 430-pound bronze statue in the plaza area of the Bren Events Center and was a gift from the class of 1987. The statue was created by New Mexico artist Bill Fitzgerald, who ... designed the Bruin Bear at UCLA.
