Annika Sorenstam stroked 11 of 14 fairways for a strong start. Sorenstam couldn't get up and down the par-4 hole, but Pat Hurst played a short shot that rolled the ball into the left tall grass. Three-putting from 25 feet, Hurst yanked the second one within 3 feet. Then Sorenstam missed her 14-foot par putt, but the win was already secured.

After winning the ADT Championship, Sorenstam decided to take some much needed time off. Unfortunately, the break turned out to be tumultuous one. News began to spread that her marriage was on the rocks. Always active in Annika’s career, David had quit touring with her in 2004, and in December the couple separated. Two months later she filed for divorce, ending their marriage after eight years.

After making the winning putt, Sorenstam jumped into a pond near the 18th green with her sister Charlotta -- the same pond where they dived for balls as teenagers. They grew up five minutes away from the course and their parents -- ... members of the club -- still live there.

[I]t was only a few months ago that people were talking about Sorenstam as a non-human robot who could win on command. Reality is that Sorenstam turns 35 in early October. Wie, Creamer, Pressel and the rest of the kids are charging hard.

With heavy winds blowing through Superstition Mountain course ,no player was making a move at Sorenstam. The Swede hit a beautiful approach to three feet at the fifth, then sank the birdie putt to reach 16 under par.
