Fresh off a two-stroke victory in the season-opening SBS Open, Sorenstam is trying to complete the Hawaiian sweep at the Fields Open, which starts Thursday. The victory was the 70th of her LPGA Tour career and first since September 2006
Cagey PGA officials had to smile as Annika waved to the huge gallery that greeted her on the first tee at the Colonial. From her first swing, the crowd was squarely behind her. So were her playing partners, Aaron Barber and Dean Wilson. As anonymous as tour pros get—neither has a photo accompanying his profile and career stats at the PGA's own web site—both talked about how honored they were to be part of history. Throughout the first round on Thursday, they engaged in pleasant conversation with Annika, helping calm her jittery nerves.

annika sorenstam mike mcgee A wedding date has not yet been set, and this is the second marriage for Sorenstam. She had filed for divorce from her first husband David Esch in February 2005. She started dating McGee (a former sports agent and son of former PGA pro Jerry McGee) later that summer. Mike relocated to Orlando in December 2006, and serves as managing director for the “Annika” brand.
"Annika is just so competitive," LPGA Tour veteran Michele Redman said. "That's one of the things I think that's really underrated about her. Her competitiveness. She has that drive that she's not going to let herself fail."

IGN Corporation Properties Sorenstam's eyes remained on the prize.... The LPGA Tour was the biggest stage for women's golf and she intended to play with the best. Her dream came true in February of 1994 when she was granted full-time membership.

Sorenstam doesn't need the large show of force anymore. The jostle to get near Michelle Wie far out measures any current Annika fever. In truth, the other young would-be celebs of the LPGA Tour - Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and the absent Natalie Gulbis - trigger much more chaos from beyond the ropes these days (and that is women's golf chaos, not European soccer chaos by a million stretches).
