Alessandra Ambrosio Annie Lennox has a classic beauty that she can play up or play down. In her early years with the Eurythmics, she played around with an androgynous look that actually suited her.

Following the disbandment of Eurythmics in 1991, vocalist Annie Lennox began a solo career that rivaled Eurythmics' in terms of crossover popularity. Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, Annie Lennox began playing music as child, learning how to play both the piano and flute. In her late teens, she won a scholarship to London's Royal Academy of Music but she dropped out of the school before she took her finals.

When Annie Lennox first became known outside of her native UK in 1983, she may have seemed like somewhat of a novelty. Her closely-cropped, bright red hair and men's apparel may have made her seem like a female version of Boy George to some, but the Eurythmics' music and Lennox's singing ability ensured their survival beyond a couple of quick hits.

The Eurythmics quietly disbanded in 1991 when Lennox took time off to have a child, and eventually work on a solo career. In 1992, her first solo album, Diva, was released. Her soulful vocals and mature stylings showed a sophisticated departure from the electronic sounds of the 1980s. Popular singles such as Walking On Broken Glass and the haunting Why established Lennox as a serious solo artist. The album sold over 2 million copies in the U.S., and was nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

The group disbanded quietly in 1991 when Annie took time off to have a child, and eventually work on her solo debut. In 1989, Annie had some non-Eurythmics success when she teamed up with Al Green to record a remake of "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" for the soundtrack to Scrooged." But in the 90s, Annie emerged as a solo act: a white girl from Scotland with a lot of soul in her voice. Before Annie had even gone solo, she was awarded with 4 Brit Awards for Best British Female Artist (in 1984, 1986, 1989, and 1990).
