In October 2001, Anne released a new Christmas album, entitled WHAT A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS, which has now reached gold status in Canada. The double CD and cassette includes new recordings, a children's medley and previously released material. The album has been released internationally in Australia, Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia and Singapore. The television special "ANNE MURRAY WHAT A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS", with guest stars Diana Krall and Leahy, was first broadcast by CBC in December 2001.

Overall, Murray has had 11 number one hits on the country charts, 25 of her albums have sold more than 500,000 albums in the USA. As of 2005, her worldwide sales amounted to over 50 million units, including 5.9 million in Canada. In addition to her own solo hits, Anne has enjoyed major duet chart hits with Glen Campbell, Dave Loggins and Kenny Rogers.

Working with Anne for the first time, Ramone adds, was an easy task. "What I love about Anne is there are no words minced about whatever she feels," he says. "This is not a person you have to think, 'Will she tell me the truth?' When we met for a few hours in Michigan before we started, we agreed we wanted to bring some daring ideas and some freshness to this album."

Regardless of the new album's success, Murray says that as long as her voice remains vibrant, she could be talked back into the recording studio. "If I told you I was stopping, my friends would say, 'Oh, yeah, we've heard that one before."'
