The best time to visit Angola is during the cooler, dryer months in June to September. This is because travel is much easier, especially once you get off the main roads - dirt tracks become a sea of mud when it rains. And lounging on the beach in a downpour just doesn't cut the mustard.

Thanks to a very generous donor, the days of learning under trees with no protection from the sun and rain are over for the students of Kwanza Sul Province in Angola. Save the Children built four community schools and two health posts.Working with the communities on the schools' construction, management and teacher selection, Save the Children ensured that the schools were safe, accessible and free — thereby eliminating obstacles to girls attending school. For a number of children, the schools are now closer to their homes and they will no longer have to walk long distances to get to school.
