Andy Kaufman: Comedy
built 227 days ago
Andy Kaufmann's chart is ... a great example of this principle with the Opposition of Mars and Pluto across the Asc./Desc. line. The thing Andy was most famous for in his comedy was his gutsy originality, innovation, and rebelliousness (Mars in Aquarius, closely conjunct the Desc., is the planet closest of all to an angle).

Andrew Geoffrey Kaufman (January 17, 1949 – May 16, 1984) was an American entertainer, actor and performance artist. While often referred to as a comedian, Kaufman did not self-identify as one.[1] He disdained telling jokes and engaging in comedy as it was traditionally understood. He referred to himself as a "song and dance man".[2]

[A]fter all this verbiage, I’m still not convinced Kaufman was an over-conformist. His signifiers were so vague and the results so ineffectual. American Idol itself does more to challenge the ideals of the American Fame Dream with its sincere over-conforming teenagers tripping over their legitimate failures than Kaufman did with his faux-failing comedy acts.
