Barney and Andy are peeking through a doorway into a room where people are dancing. Andy says to Barney, "Do you see anyone (girl) interesting in there?" Barney replies, "Naw, they’re all dogs, just dogs." Andy replies, "Barney, that’s not a very nice thing to say." To which Barney responds: "Andy, if a quail flew through there right now they’d all point!"

There's a rumor of a 'lost episode' of The Andy Griffith Show. A flashback where Andy tells Opie how his mom died. Seems like Barney, as a young deputy, was showing what he can do with his gun at the kitchen table and accidentally shot Mrs. Taylor in the head. Andy put his hand out, Barney gave him the gun, and that became a running gag for the Barney episodes of the show. Andy did the paper work to clear Barney as an incident of 'friendly fire' town style. Andy, being the good hearted guy he was forgave Barney.
