Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice continued to work together. They created Jesus Christ Superstar (1969), a very big success. They started to write Jeeves (1975) but Rice thought that this wasn't anything for him and therefore Alan Ayckbourn wrote the lyrics. Andrew and Tim tried again with Evita (1976). Also a big success.

Lloyd Webber went on to produce Sunset Boulevard, in London, 1993, and in Los Angeles and on Broadway, both in 1994. Besides The Likes of Us (lyrics by Rice), his other unproduced plays include Come Back Richard, Your Country Needs You (with Rice), and Cricket.

In 1967, Lloyd Webber and Rice wrote a song for the Eurovision Song Contest called "Try It and see", which was unsuccessful. The tune of this song eventually became the tune for "King Herod's Song" in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

In 1977 Lloyd Webber founded an entertainment company, the Really Useful Group, which jointly runs Really Useful Theatres (see West End Theatres). He was ... from an early age a keen art collector, and in 2003 a large number of Pre-Raphaelite paintings from his collections went on display at the Royal Academy, London. During interviews at the time Lloyd Webber spoke of plans to build a gallery and the possibility of his leaving the collection to the nation. He was knighted in 1992, and was created a life peer in 1996.
