Andrew Jackson was in office from 1829-1837. He was elected by Tennessee in 1828, he ran against Adams. Jackson received 178 electoral and Adams received 83. Jackson was almost in Washington D.C, for his inauguration.

James Madison Luttrell, son of Amanda Reynolds and Andrew Jackson Luttrell married Nora Bell Doughten in Hood County, Texas. She was the daughter of John Thomas Doughten & Missouri Annie Iles. Missouri Annie Iles was the sister of Elizabeth C. Iles Brewen Luttrell. James Madison Luttrell and Nora Bell Doughten were married November 26, 1893 in Hood County, Texas. They had sons, John Andrew Luttrell who was born November 6, 1894 in Hood County, Texas and Eddie Luttrell who was born June 10, 1897.

In all, more than 45,000 American Indians were relocated to the West during Jackson's administration. During this time, the administration purchased about 100 million acres (400,000 km²) of Indian land for about $68 million and 32 million acres (130,000 km²) of western land. Jackson was criticized at the time for his role in these events, and the criticism has grown over the years. Remini characterizes the Indian Removal era as "one of the unhappiest chapters in American history."[37]

The Hermitage home of Andrew Jackson was built in 1818 near Nashville TN. The home caught on fire in 1834 and was repaired. It was a fine plantation and prospered along as Andrew Jackson was living. After Jackson's death in 1845, the estate went downhill. His son sold the hermitage to the federal government in 1856. Jackson is buried beside his wife.

Jackson retired to the Hermitage and lived out his life there. He was still despised as a high-handed and capricious dictator by his enemies and revered as a forceful democratic leader by his followers. Although he was known as a frontiersman, Jackson was personally dignified, courteous, and gentlemanly—with a devotion to the “gentleman’s code” that led him to fight several duels.
