Andrew Dice Clay was the first and only person banned for life from MTV. He got banned at the music awards for foul language when he did his act. His trademark "ooh!" is sampled in the popular dance club song "Unbelievable" by EMF. Unbelievable was the title of the song because that's ... one of Dice's trademark phrases.

Born Andrew Clay Silverstein in Brooklyn, he was still a teen when he began performing in comedy clubs in the 70s. By 1980, he had migrated to Los Angeles where he frequently performed at The Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip, but failed to be "discovered". During this time, Clay played bit parts in the features like "Wacko" and "Making the Grade" and could be seen as a bouncer in "Pretty in Pink". He ... played a mobster named Max Goldman in numerous episodes of "Crime Story" on NBC during the 1986-1987 season. But his stage act slowly began to build a following when he developed the 'Dice' persona. Then in 1988, he exploded onto the national comedy scene with a breakout appearance on one of HBO's Rodney Dangerfield Comedy Specials.
Andrew Clay Silverstein was born in Brooklyn in 1957. At the outset of his career, using simply the name Andrew Clay, he was an actor who appeared primarily in small roles in low-budget teen sex romps like 1984's Making the Grade and Private Resort. As the decade wore on, he continued to struggle as an actor; finally, he turned to stand-up, creating the Diceman, a comic persona which assimilated the attitude and mentality of an everyday street thug into a bawdy, timeworn sensibility borrowed largely from performers like Pearl Williams and Belle Barth; even the off-color Mother Goose rhymes which first won him notoriety had been party-record staples for decades.
