The lavish ceremony featured performances by Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera, who was flown to Cannes on a private jet and reportedly received $3.6 million for her performance.

London’s Daily Mail reports that Jennifer Lopez will be paid $2-million to sing at the birthday party of Russian tycoon Andrei Melnichenko’s wife. She’ll get $1.2-million for her 40-minute appearance plus $800,000 for expenses, the paper reports, mere pocket change for Melnichenko, who’s worth about $5-billion. In case you can’t do the math, that’s about $50,000 per minute. A great rate, exscept that the Russian paid twice as much for a personal appearance by Christina Aguilera last year. Now you are probably thinking..Wow..Christina must be really hard up for work if she is degrading her talent to a wedding singer. Well perhaps if you knew that she was paid $2.2 million dollars to sing 2 (yes…1..2…only 2!) songs, you might reconsider.
