In January of 2003, Anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer. From the beginning, she promised herself that the cancer wouldn’t stop her career. She went through with that promise by recording a song titled “Love is not a Crime” for the “Chicago” soundtrack. Anastacia was suffering from insomnia and was extremely ill from the cancer and radiation treatments. She had surgery to remove the cancer form her breast in March of 2003.

Now, after such a life-changing period, Anastacia is ready to start a whole new phase of her career. Her struggles to get a record deal, write a third album and overcome such horrific illness are behind her and she is ready to start a new adventure. To mark the change, she plans to release the ultimate greatest hits collection, 'Pieces Of A Dream'. As well as all twelve of the singer's hits, it includes four new and exclusive tracks including compelling forthcoming single... called 'Pieces Of A Dream', 'In Your Eyes', 'I Belong To You' with Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti and 'Everything Burns', a duet with Evanescence front man Ben Moody that featured on the recent soundtrack to blockbuster The Fantastic Four.

Anastacia has been highly successful in Europe, Latin America, Oceania, Asia and South Africa but has not had as much success in her native United States. Despite the lack of American success, she has sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide.

Anastacia came to the United States from her native Philippines in 1983. Her oldest son Ben and daughter Concepcion had immigrated to this country ten years earlier, and had been urging their mother to join them. Anastacia was reluctant to leave the Philippines due to her late husband's failing health.

The young Anastacia battled against Crohn's disease to develop a career in dance and can be spotted in the early Salt-N-Pepa videos ‘Everybody Get Up’ and ‘Twist and Shout’. Having made it to the final of an MTV talent show in 1999, Anastacia succeeded in drawing attention to her unique voice from all the right places.

On the June 20th edisode of The View Anastacia was on and she mentioned that she used to work at a hair salon which Stevie used to use. She said she talked to Stevie at Divas Live and told her she was the one who used to answer the phone when she'd call for an appointment.
