Amy Alcott: Golf
built 169 days ago
Amy Alcott       Amy Alcott is one of the great characters that has inhabited women’s golf - or is all of golf for that manner. Not the least of her attributes are a wicked sense of humour  and great sense of cosmic timing.
Posing_with_family_and_amy_alcott Amy Alcott knows Rivera Country Club well. It has been her home course since the age of 13. And with her history of professional wins (32 -- same as Phil) including five majors (Phil has time to catch up), along with her reputation for creative shot making (just like Phil), she definitely has the credentials to counsel an already great golfer. That he ultimately won is a testament to her skills and knowledge. Having so much in common with each other must make for a pretty smooth relationship, which can't hurt either.
Amy was born in Kansas City, Mo., but grew up in Southern California, where she dominated the junior golf ranks. Her original instructor was Walter Keller, and she would take lessons at his legendary golf store. After winning dozens of junior events, including the U.S. Junior Girls Championship, Amy turned pro when she was 18.

Alcott told the Los Angeles Times: "I wanted to try coaching because it's a new phase in my life and golf career. To mentor young girls to be the best they can be and to help them play golf and learn rewarding life skills is a win-win opportunity."
