While filming Coolie in 1982, Bachchan was seriously injured during the filming of a fight scene with co-actor Puneet Issar.[29] He was in the hospital with a ruptured intestine for months, and at times was close to death. A remarkable outpouring of support and concern by his fans and the nation in general followed. After recovering, Bachchan resumed shooting for Coolie, and it finally released as a huge success owing to its pre-release publicity.[9]

Bachchan recorded his narration at The Sound City Studios recently. Dasgupta says that lyrics of the songs selected by him are not verbatim reproductions of the original Tagore songs, but the compositions have retained the essence and refreshing flavour of Rabindrasangeet.
