For gaming, the Amiga pretty much covers exactly the 'golden years': the late 80s until the early 90s. During that time, the Amiga had the ultimate versions of most games. Far superior graphics and great sound await you when comparing the Amiga versions to ports of other systems!

[One] thing to ponder is the announcement from Sony just before Amiga 2K. They announced that they were a network company. And some Amigans need to expand their thinking from single a single platform perspective to a web of relationships perspective. This is both Biological Systems thinking and Object Ocean/AmiVerse thinking. Sony will be releasing a PDA. Now a PDA from Sony has got to be multimedia oriented.

Das ganze Betriebssystem des Amiga passte zunächst auf 2 Disketten, die Kickstart- und die Workbench-Diskette. Als der Kickstart so weit stabilisiert war, dass er in ein ROM verlegt werden konnte, reichte eine einzige Diskette von 880 KB Kapazität. AmigaOS bietet eine grafische Oberfläche in Farbe, im Multitasking mit relativ kurzen Reaktionszeiten z. B. auf Benutzereingaben. Die fehlende Abschottung der Prozesse untereinander („Memory Protection“) ermöglichte eine schnelle Interprozesskommunikation durch einfache Übergabe von Zeigern ohne Daten zu kopieren, allerdings konnte dadurch jedes Programm bei einem Fehler das gesamte System zum Absturz bringen. Die Geschwindigkeit des OS wurde über die Jahre sogar noch durch diverse Verbesserungen gesteigert – im Kontrast zur Konkurrenz.
